Most important challenges posed by Globalization to International Society
Introduction
As we know, globalization is the result of human innovation and technological progress. Globalization from the word global means spreading throughout the globe, in other words spreading world-wide. globalization began from the economic expansion, and it had been Europeans that lift the curtain of globalization once they established colonies beyond their counties. then follow the expansion of culture, civilization, religion or ideology, etc. There is not a single issue which is posed by globalization. In today’s world, we have been facing several issues because of globalization. In which include Economic warfare and Neocolonialism, cultural destruction, and the latest problem which we are facing COVID-19.
globalization is mainly derived by the profit of the economy. globalization started with the expansion of the colony, from which colonists gained a lot of money, in other words, they build their treasure by doing so. The world production has undergone a historical transformation since the 20th century, under the influence of the development of technology and the promotion of technological revolution as well as the application of mass production factors.
Many big companies of developed countries build their companies or factories in overseas countries where they could make full use of the native working class and other resources by paying a lower cost. Nowadays, multinational corporations have overspread among more than 160 countries in the world. They take 40 percent of the whole world’s total output value; 90 percent of the world market shares, 80 percent international economic trade, 90 percent of the international technological trade.
For further understanding of economic warfare, we have to understand neocolonialism. As we know, Neocolonialism came to be seen more generally as involving a coordinated effort by former colonial powers and other developed countries to dam growth in developing countries and retain them as sources of cheap raw materials and cheap workers. This effort was seen as closely related to the cold war and, particularly, with the U.S. policy referred to as the Truman doctrine. More broadly, neocolonial governance is seen as operating through indirect styles of control and, particularly, through the economic, financial, and trade policies of transnational corporations and global and multilateral institutions.
International financial institutions like the International monetary fund and also the world bank is also often accused of participating in neocolonialism, by making loans (as well as other varieties of economic aid) that are conditional on the recipient countries taking steps favorable to those represented by these institutions but detrimental to their economies.
The second most important drawback of globalization is cultural destruction. There are some main aspects of the impact of globalization on culture. One is the demise of the traditional festivals than is to limit our cultural innovation another one controls cultural autonomy. This problem can make our losing our culture. These problems can make the loss of our traditional culture and customs values so we must pay more attention to this problem.
First of all, the demise of traditional festivals is the major effect. within the process of globalization, the expansion of the cultural exchange and spread of Western civilization is like the flood into China. However, the fact tells us that as the western festival culture was introduced into China, more and more Chinese people have a special liking to those foreign festivals, and a few traditional festivals of china’s national culture are possible, even forgotten. like Double Seven Festival and Valentine’s Day is similar but many Chinese people know how to do it on Valentine’s Day, don't know to do it in another traditional festival. due to this blind obedience and discomfort, which results in the process of globalization, the traditional festival within the Chinese culture is facing great danger and even some traditional festivals towards a decline.
Next is limiting our cultural innovation. In the process of globalization, we in the production of a large number of advanced high-end technologies imported from abroad. But too much reliance on foreign science and technology, we will actively introduce embodied in, and less on their work in the digestion and absorption. Such as too many products we just copy this not to learn its specific principles. So, we just followed the footsteps of other countries that did not go beyond those. These are reflected in the process of globalization; the culture shows a lack of innovation.
Another one is controlling of cultural autonomy. The process of cultural globalization will inevitably lead to world culture full range of conflict in the world field “, occupy a leading global cultural transmission performance for the US-led Western culture in the position of the dominant culture. This situation makes the Chinese people pay more attention to Western festivals. If this situation continues, we will not have our traditional festivals. So, we need to pay more attention to our traditional culture.
As we have discussed before globalization posed several challenges to international society and Covid-19 is one of them. How? As we know globalization came into existence after technological advancements and progress but we have to keep in mind where globalization allows us borderless connection through social media or global economy it also encourages people to travel.
As we all are globally connected this becomes the main reason for the rapid spread of coronavirus around the world. Coronavirus originates in Hubei China and because of its huge connectivity it first spread in Europe and after America and then around the world.
Most people believe in the advantages of globalization that are somehow true but unfortunately, there are several drawbacks posed by globalization to the international society.
Globalization is one of the reasons of cultural destruction. This problem can make the loss of our traditional culture so we must pay more attention to this problem. We are celebrating those festivals which do not belong to our society because of global connectivity.
globalization is mainly derived by the profit of the economy. We have to pay attention to the multinational companies and organizations that are imposing their demands and their rules on us directly or indirectly. They use our homeland and people for making money and build or develop their own country, because of the multinational organizations they easily purchase our leaders, bureaucrats, and politicians, shortly this becomes the cause of the destruction of the financial system and domestic production.
In the present scenario, Covid-19 is also one of the drawbacks of globalization. It was originated in China and, it has spread speedily all over the world because of excessive connectivity.
